MONTICELLO, AR — A University of Arkansas at Monticello psychology professor and the UAM chapter of a psychology honor society were recently honored by Psi Chi, the international honor society in psychology. Dr. Seungyeon Lee, an assistant professor of psychology, was named the outstanding faculty member for the Southwestern Region of Psi Chi for "contributions to the honor society." Psi Chi annually recognizes an outstanding college faculty member in each of six regions nationally. Each recipient receives a monetary award. “I am humbled and honored to have received this incredibly generous award from the organization," said Lee. "The funds awarded will go far in helping me to realize my own goals of becoming a psychologist and a faculty mentor.
MONTICELLO, AR — 2017 graduates of the associate of applied science in nursing degree program at the University of Arkansas at Monticello recently achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the NCLEX-RN examination given by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing. According to test results released by the Board of Nursing, UAM had the only ADN program out of 18 two-year programs in Arkansas to achieve a 100 percent pass rate.
MONTICELLO, AR — Members of the 2017 graduating class in the bachelor of science in nursing degree program at the University of Arkansas at Monticello have achieved a 95 percent pass rate on the National Council of Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN), according to Dr. Brandy Haley, dean of the School of Nursing. Passage of the NCLEX-RN is required before nursing graduates can be hired as nurses.

Karen and Marvin Fawley, that means crawling around the Warren Prairie on their stomachs, searching for tiny plants with the unwieldy name Geocarpon minimum, a small leafy plant no more than a quarter-inch tall. The Fawleys call it "belly botany" and while the technique may sound odd – and a little uncomfortable – it's yielding big results.

MONTICELLO, AR — Jazz aficionados will be able to hear some of the country's top jazz artists when they perform as part of the All-Star Jazz Camp at the University of Arkansas at Monticello July 19. The All-Star Jazz Camp Big Band will take the stage of the UAM Fine Arts Center at 7 p.m. for a free concert. The 18-member band will include Paul Henry of the Airmen of Note, the internationally-acclaimed jazz band of the U.S. Air Force, as well as Mike Williams, trumpeter for the Count Basie Orchestra and Scott Whitfield, trombonist for Johnny Griffin's Big Soul Band and the Nat Adderly Sextet.

Only students who have completed the admission process may register during this session.
