MONTICELLO, AR — Jazz Band I, the premier jazz ensemble at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, and the UAM Wind Ensemble, have been chosen to record a series of scores for Twin Towers Music Publishing to be used as demos on the company's website, according to Justin Anders, chair of the UAM Division of Music.
Jazz Band I will record a series of jazz scores while the Wind Ensemble will record traditional concert literature. Anyone purchasing the scores from Twin Towers will also receive a recording of the score by either Jazz Band I or the Wind Ensemble. UAM will receive copies of all the scores recorded by either ensemble.
Jazz Band I, a 17-piece group under the direction of Jason Smith, has performed at the prestigious Elmhurst Jazz Festival and toured internationally in the People's Republic of China. The Wind Ensemble is a 38-piece ensemble under the direction of Anders.
"We are obviously pleased that Jazz Band I and the Wind Ensemble have been selected to perform and record for Twin Towers," said Anders. "I think it speaks to the overall quality of our music program and the talent of our student musicians."
