Rick Sikes Art Exhibition On Display Through November 17

MONTICELLO, AR — An exhibition of paintings by Rick Sikes, director of The Downtown Gallery in Monroe, La., will be on display through November 17 in the Glassblock Gallery of the Taylor Library and Technology Center at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.

            Gallery hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 to10 a.m. and 12 to 1 p.m.; and Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon and 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.

            Sikes' portrait paintings focus on studies of specific individuals revealing unique features and characteristics of that person's individual identity. He uses a variety of painting methods and techniques to create images that compliment an exaggerated aesthetic of the individual.

            Sikes is currently enrolled in the master of fine arts program in studio art at Louisiana Tech. He is a conservator and preparator at the Masur Museum in Monroe and has experience in children's book illustration and art instruction.  He has exhibited his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions and was recently featured in Bayou Life Magazine.
