MONTICELLO, AR — Eight agriculture students from the University of Arkansas at Monticello competed in the 2016 Southern Agricultural Economics Association Quiz Bowl held recently in San Antonio, Tex.
UAM students in the competition were Lance Blocker of White Hall, Landon Burns of Star City, Justin Calhoun of Star City, Alex Hensley of Hermitage, Coty Long of Bonifay, Fla., McKayla Patterson of Hampton, Martin Walker of Belzoni, Miss., and Kaitlyn Wilson of DeWitt. The students were accompanied by Dr. Bob Stark of the UAM faculty, who also served as a competition judge.
The 2016 SAEA Quiz Bowl brought together 140 undergraduate students from 22 colleges and universities in a test of knowledge in eight categories – microeconomics, macroeconomics, resource and policy, quantitative, agribusiness and finance, marketing, management, and general knowledge. Students were assigned to four-person teams with no more than one team member from a single university. The mixed teams are designed to generate interaction between students from different schools, according to Stark.
The trip was jointly funded by the UAM School of Agriculture and the UA Division of Agriculture. For more information, contact Dr. Bob Stark at (870) 460-1014.
