MONTICELLO, AR — The women’s rodeo team at the University of Arkansas at Monticello scored 280 points to capture a share of first place at the University of West Alabama rodeo in Livingston, Ala., last week.
The UAM women have now tied for first in their last two rodeos as part of the ongoing Ozark Region competition.
Shann Roddenberry of Bristol, Fla., and Jessica Rowland of Bonnerdale, Ark., combined to score all 280 points for UAM. Roddenberry scored 160 points while placing second in the barrel racing competition with times of 18.41 seconds and 18.27 seconds for an overall time of 36.68 seconds. Roddenberry trailed winner Katelyn Nicholson of East Mississippi Community College by .02 seconds after the two rounds.
Rowland scored 120 points in the goat tying competition to place second with times of 8.9 and 9.4 seconds. Rowland finished 1.7 seconds behind winner Kesia Smith of host West Alabama.
