MONTICELLO, AR — The Center for Economic Education at the
University of Arkansas at Monticello will offer an economic education and
technology workshop for K-12 educators October 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in
the Babin Business Center.
The workshop will feature training in “virtual economics,” an easy-to-use
teacher-friendly CD-ROM with 1,200 classroom-tested economics and personal
finance lessons developed by the Council on Economic Education. The lessons
can be searched by economic and personal finance concept, keyword, and
national and state standards. The CD-ROM and workshop are appropriate for
educators at all grade levels. The CD-ROM searches can be conducted by grade
level.
Participants will receive the following: the Virtual Economics CD-ROM (a
$100 value), hands-on training in its use, a $50 stipend, and four hours of
staff development credit, including three hours of technology credit. The
workshop is limited to 28 participants.
The workshop is made possible by a grant from State Farm Insurance and is
sponsored by Economics Arkansas and the UAM Center for Economic Education.
