MONTICELLO, AR — Athletes from all sports at the University of Arkansas at
Monticello will be offering treats to children up to the age of 12 as part
of “Trunk-or-Treat” night at the UAM campus on Wednesday, October 28 from
5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Trucks and cars will be set up in the parking lot of the UAM Science Center
with their truck beds and trunks full of candy. Children will have the
opportunity to trick-or-treat with UAM athletes.
The community project is one of several initiatives being sponsored by the
UAM Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). The committee is comprised of
representatives from every sport at UAM and is currently involved in several
service projects to raise funds for the Make A Wish Foundation. SAAC is
sponsoring “Kick For A Cause” at all UAM home football games. UAM athletes
are also involved in the WatchDOGS (Dads of Great Students) program at
Monticello Intermediate School and are finalizing plans for UAM athlete
involvement at both the Monticello and Drew Central Elementary Schools.
“I applaud the Student Athlete Advisory Committee for their involvement in
the community,” said Chris Ratcliff, director of athletics. “It’s important
that our athletes understand they are role models for young people and what
a positive impact they can have on their lives.”
