UAM Accepting Entries For “Paint The Town Green”
Homecoming Parade (10/7/09)
MONTICELLO, AR — The alumni office at the University of Arkansas at
Monticello is accepting entries to the university’s centennial “Paint The
Town Green” homecoming parade, according to Carrie Ashcraft, director of
alumni affairs.
The parade will begin at 4 p.m. on Thursday, October 22 at West Wood Avenue
and North Main Street. The parade route will follow Monticello’s historic
Main Street around the square and end at the Drew County Historical Museum
on South Main.
Gift certificates of $75, $50, and $25 from the UAM bookstore will be
presented to the parade’s top three entries. Deadline for entry is October
19. All entries must be in place for judging by 3:30 p.m.
Parade rules include no candy thrown from cars or floats, no one under 16 on
all-terrain vehicles and only one rider per ATV, no roller skates,
skateboards, in-line skates, bicycles or go-carts, and all horses must
present a current Coggins health screening report.
