Nursing Receives
Two Endowed Scholarships
(3/13/08)
MONTICELLO, AR — The Division of Nursing at the University of Arkansas at
Monticello is the beneficiary of two recent gifts to the UAM Foundation
Fund.
Mrs. Maxine Clippert of Camden has given a $30,000 gift to establish an
endowed scholarship in memory of her mother, the late Mrs. Henry G.
Hearnsberger, Sr., of Fordyce.
Dr. Richard Kluender, dean of the UAM School of Forest Resources, and his
wife, Katherine, have created the Chair of the Division of Nursing
Scholarship to honor their parents, Edward C. and Gertrude Kluender and
Charles R. and Elisabeth Knapp.
Both gifts create endowments that will generate scholarships for deserving
students in the UAM nursing program. Recipients must have a strong academic
background and work ethic, display professional potential, and be
recommended by the Scholarship Committee of the Division of Nursing.
“These are very generous gifts and we are grateful to both Mrs. Clippert and
the Kluenders for creating a legacy that will last for generations to come,”
said UAM Chancellor Jack Lassiter. “Maxine Clippert and her late husband,
George, will always have a special place in our hearts for all they have
done for the university and our students. Dick and Katherine Kluender have
also meant a great deal to the university and we are grateful for their
continued support.”
The first scholarships from the endowments will be presented next fall.
