Hospitality Students at UAM-CTC Receive National Accreditation From ServSafe (7/6/09)

MONTICELLO, AR — Four students enrolled in the hospitality services program at the UAM College of Technology at Crossett recently received the nationally recognized and accredited ServSafe Food Protection Certification.

Students receiving certification were Cassandra Brown of Crossett, Sandra Powell of Warren, Charlotte Fox of Crossett, and Ashley Snyder of Crossett.

The certification is given to students who pass the Arkansas ServSafe Examination and is used to set the standard in food safety training and certification.  Hospitality services students prepared for the exam with instructor Alice Lindsey by studying the key areas of basic food safety. Assistance was also provided by the Arkansas Hospitality Association (AHA), the official voice of the restaurant and entertainment, hotel and lodging, and travel and tourism industries in Arkansas.

The UAM-CTC hospitality services program is designed to prepare students for careers in hotel and restaurant management, tourism, or guest services and includes supervised internships. In addition to preparing students for entry-level positions in the hospitality industry, the program  enhances the skills of individuals currently employed in lodging, gaming, entertainment venues, and restaurants.
