UAM To Host Art/Literacy Children’s Day Camp (7/21/09)

MONTICELLO, AR — The University of Arkansas at Monticello, in partnership with the Monticello and Drew Central School Districts, will host a “Read, Write, Paint-A-Lot Day Camp in art and literacy August 6-7 for children in grades 3 and 4.
            
Third graders will participate on Thursday, August 6 while fourth graders will participate on Friday, August 7. Each session begins at 9 a.m. in room C-5 of the UAM Science Center and lasts until 3 p.m. with lunch provided. Camp participants will receive t-shirts, pastels and other art supplies.
            
Both sessions will be centered on animals and will include drawing, writing, painting, poetry, movement, and art history. Instructors for the camp are Kim Wilson, MIS art teacher, Cindy Sass, Drew Central High School art teacher, and Dr. Sue Martin, assistant professor of education and coordinator of teacher education at UAM.
