UAM CTM To Offer Adult Education Classes During Fall Semester (7/29/09)

MCGEHEE, AR — A variety of free classes in subjects ranging from basic computer skills to GED preparation and tutoring for college entrance exams will be available this fall through the Adult Education Program at the UAM College of Technology-McGehee.  
            
Classes will begin August 24 and meet Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Evening classes will begin August 25 and meet every Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m. Classes will also be offered at the Fowler Mitchell Center at the McGehee Housing Authority each Monday and Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m.
           
“We accommodate every type of learner, from hands-on activities to computer-based instruction,” said Sharon Cantrell, director of the Adult Education Program. “We strive to meet the needs of all students.”
            
Other classes will teach basic skills and workplace readiness activities, including resume writing and how to successfully interview for a job. In addition to not charging for the classes, UAM CTM will offer gas and day care vouchers to those who qualify through a partnership with Career Pathways.
