UAM Faculty Member Receives Arts Council Grant (8/19/09)

MONTICELLO, AR — Scott Lykens, an assistant professor of art at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, is one of nine Arkansas artists selected to receive an Individual Artist Fellowship Grant from the Arkansas Arts Council.
            
The $4,000 award is scheduled to be presented by Governor Mike Beebe at the ArtLinks Conference in Hot Springs on October 6.
            
Lykens, who specializes in ceramics, metals, and three-dimensional design, is beginning his fifth year on the UAM faculty. He holds a bachelor of fine arts degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and master of fine arts degree from Kent State University.
            
The Individual Artist Fellowship Grants are presented in recognition of artistic ability and based on the creative excellence of the works submitted for review.
