UAM Announces Schedule For Second Annual Weevil Spring Spectacular (2/1/12)

MONTICELLO, AR — The Green-White spring football game and a performance of the Walton Jones musical “The 1940s Radio Hour” highlight the second annual Weevil Spring Spectacular at the University of Arkansas at Monticello April 13-14.
The weekend kicks off April 13 with a taste of autumn as head coach Hud Jackson divides his squad into two teams for a football game to culminate the end of spring practice.  University officials hope to create a game day atmosphere with tailgating beginning at 4:30.  Jackson and his players will walk through the tailgaters as part of the Walk of Champions at 5:30. There will be free food and music in the tailgating area. Kickoff for the spring game is set for 7 p.m. with free admission.
UAM baseball takes center stage on April 14 as the Boll Weevils host Southeastern Oklahoma for a single game at 1 p.m. Admission is free.
Later than evening, UAM Chancellor Jack Lassiter and his wife, Judy, will host a dinner at 6 p.m. in the Spencer Gallery of the Fine Arts Center, followed by a performance of “The 1940s Radio Hour” by the UAM Music Theater Workshop at 7:30.  Cost for the dinner and theater production is $25 per person, $5 for children under 10, with half of the proceeds to benefit the UAM choral program. Attendance at the dinner guarantees premium theater seating.
For more information or to RSVP, contact the Office of Advancement at (870) 460-1028 or email: withers@uamont.edu.
