The need for trained early childhood caregivers will continue to increase as statewide Child Care and Early Childhood Education programs expand. This program is designed to prepare students for occupations in early care and education programs such as Child Care Centers, Preschools, Head Start Programs, Early Head Start Programs and Arkansas Better Chance Programs. Positions such as assistant teacher, lead teacher, program coordinator, service coordinator, home visitor, parent educator, director, and others. Instruction includes child growth and development; nutrition; program planning and management; health and safety; behavior guidance; inclusion of children with special needs; adult-child interactions; appropriate assessment; curriculum development; and laws, regulations, and policies relating to early care education; and designing positive childcare environments. A child maltreatment check is required. Student Learning Outcomes Students who complete one of the options in Early Childhood Education will:
