ProQuest Research Library

A multidisciplinary database, ProQuest Research Library provides access to a variety of academic subject areas including:  art, business, education, health, humanities, law, psychology, social sciences, military, and more.  This collection contains more than 2620 full text titles.  Content is derived from trade publications, newspapers, magazines, and scholarly journals.

Academic Search Complete

The Academic Search Complete collection contains more than 6,100 full-text periodicals, including more than 5,100 peer-reviewed journals. Subject coverage includes: animal science, anthropology, area studies, astronomy, biology, chemistry, civil engineering, electrical engineering, ethnic & multicultural studies, food science & technology, general science, geography, geology, law, materials science, mathematics, mechanical engineering, music, pharmaceutical sciences, physics, psychology, religion & theology, veterinary science, women's studies, zoology and many other fields.

LexisNexis Academic

A comprehensive database providing access to over 6,000 news, business, and legal publications, LexisNexis Academic includes Shepard's Citations for all federal and state court cases back to 1789 and Company Dossier, a service that provides detailed company information, financial data, and tools for comparing companies using a variety of criteria.  Sources include newspapers, magazines, journals, polls, blogs, television and radio broadcast transcripts, SEC filings and reports, federal and state codes, and more.  Click How Do I? and View Tutorials for more information on searching the database.

WorldCat Online Catalog

The WorldCat Online Catalog is a comprehensive index that contains all materials catalogued by OCLC member libraries, including books, journals and magazines, articles, chapters, papers, maps, musical scores, newspapers, sound recording, videotapes, manuscripts, and films and slides.  Some records contain cover art, table of contents, book summaries, and information about the author.  Use this resource to locate materials in other libraries and your library.

Encyclopędia Britannica Online Academic Edition

The online version of the encyclopędia includes articles and entries from Encyclopędia Britannica, Britannica Concise Encyclopedia, and Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and Thesaurus.  Selected magazine and journal articles are provided by EBSCO and ProQuest.  The database features photographs, illustrations, sound files, video clips, notable quotations, a gateway to classics, which introduces users to selected writings and ideas of the western world, and statistical data on countries.  A Spanish version, Enciclopedia Universal en Espańol, is available.

Webster's Third International Dictionary, Unabridged Online

Available via Encyclopędia Britannica, this online dictionary includes 472,000 entries, 200,000 usage examples, 3,000 images, and 140,000 etymologies that describe word origins.  Fourteen search options allow users to search for spellings, definitions, and solve word games.

Print Journals:

All print journals, to which the library subscribes, are listed in the online library catalog. To look for a specific journal, search by TITLE. If you are unsure of the exact title, search by KEYWORD to find the title you want.

Electronic Journals:

All electronic journals in the library's collection are listed in the Magazine, Newspaper, and Journal Finder. You can search for a specific title by keyword or browse an A-to-Z list by title or subject. 

Books:

Use the online library catalog to find books. Books may be searched by keyword, title, author, or subject.

To find a specific book, search by TITLE. If your search is unsuccessful or if you are unsure of the exact title, try a KEYWORD search. To find books written by a specific person, search by AUTHOR. To find a book about a specific person or topic, search by SUBJECT. Subject searching requires the use of Library of Congress Subject Headings. If your subject search is unsuccessful, try a KEYWORD search or consult a librarian at daviska@uamont.edu.

The library's collection of books is organized by subject. Once you locate a call number on the shelves, you can browse other books in the area, as they will contain the same subject.

Borrow Items From Other Libraries:

If the library does not own a publication that you need, we can borrow books and obtain copies of journal article from other libraries.  Submit an interlibrary loan request form online.  Materials may be supplied for free or a fee.  You will generally receive the item within two weeks.
