Research Databases:

CABI Publishing Databases

The CAB International Publishing Databases are searchable abstract databases of internationally published research. The Library's subscription provides access to Forest Products Abstracts and Forestry Abstracts. Both databases provide summaries covering journal articles, bulletins, conferences and books about wood and forestry science.

Forest Products Abstracts provides access to the latest information on all aspects of forest products (60,000 research summaries), including: covering logging, wood properties, damage to wood and wood protection, wood-based panel products, pulping of wood fibers, and medicinal uses of wood extractives. Forestry Abstracts provides over 200,000 research summaries. Coverage includes silviculture provenance studies, inventories, economics, agro forestry, husbandry of non-wood forest products, tree anatomy and physiology, climate, soils, forest ecology, tree breeding, fire, forest pests and protection, forest biodiversity, conservation, and arboriculture.

Roots of Forestry

Provided by the Society of American Foresters, The Roots of Forestry is an online searchable archive featuring all five of SAF's periodical journals - Forest Science, Journal of Forestry, and the Northern, Southern, and Western Journals of Applied Forestry - from 1902 to 1999.

JSTOR: Life Sciences Collection

The JSTOR Life Sciences Collection will eventually include 160 titles across ten disciplines in the biological, health, and general sciences. Areas covered include Aquatic Sciences, Biological Sciences, Botany & Plant Sciences, Developmental & Cell Biology, Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, General Science, Health Sciences, History of Science & Technology, Paleontology, and Zoology.

Ecology Abstracts focuses on how organisms of all kinds - microbes, plant, and animals - interact with their environments and with other organisms. AGRICOLA

The AGRICOLA database indexes materials related to all aspects of agriculture, forestry, and animal science. AGRICOLA includes records of books, serials, audiovisuals, and other materials. Topics include:  agricultural economics, agricultural engineering, animal science, chemistry, energy, entomology, cooperative extensions, food science, forestry, geography, home economics, human nutrition, life science, natural resources, plant diseases, insect control, rural sociology, and veterinary medicine.

Wildlife and Ecology Studies Worldwide

A comprehensive database on wildlife and wildlife management, Wildlife and Ecology Studies Worldwide contains 688,575 records which index journals, books, conference proceedings, symposiums, government reports, theses, and dissertations.  Subject coverage:  mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, habitat management, endangered species, ecosystems, habitat use, parasites/disease, and more.

ScienceDirect

The Science Direct online journal collection provides access to full text articles from over 2,000 peer reviewed journals, covering scientific, medical, and technical information published in 24 fields of science.  The library has access to 802 titles within our subscription.  The green icon
[ green icon ] indicates you can view the full text of a document.  The white icon [ white icon ] indicates you can view the citation and abstract of the document.

SpringerLink

An online journal collection, SpringerLink provides access to scientific, technological, and medical journals, books, book series, and reference works.  SpringerLink contains 1250 peer reviewed journals.  The green square icon [ green square icon ] indicates you have access to the content.  The half full green square [ half full green square icon ] indicates you have access to some content.  The white square icon
[ white square icon ] indicates you have no access to the content.

Print Journals:

All print journals, to which the library subscribes, are listed in the online library catalog. To look for a specific journal, search by TITLE. If you are unsure of the exact title, search by KEYWORD to find the title you want.

Electronic Journals:

All electronic journals in the library's collection are listed in the Magazine, Newspaper, and Journal Finder. You can search for a specific title by keyword or browse an A-to-Z list by title or subject. 

Books:

Use the online library catalog to find books. Books may be searched by keyword, title, author, or subject.

To find a specific book, search by TITLE. If your search is unsuccessful or if you are unsure of the exact title, try a KEYWORD search. To find books written by a specific person, search by AUTHOR. To find a book about a specific person or topic, search by SUBJECT. Subject searching requires the use of Library of Congress Subject Headings. If your subject search is unsuccessful, try a KEYWORD search or consult a librarian at daviska@uamont.edu.

Library of Congress Call Number Ranges for Forestry:

The library's collection of books is organized by subject. Once you locate a call number on the shelves, you can browse other books in the area, as they will contain the same subject.

Borrow Items From Other Libraries:

If the library does not own a publication that you need, we can borrow books and obtain copies of journal article from other libraries.  Submit an interlibrary loan request form online.  Materials may be supplied for free or a fee.  You will generally receive the item within two weeks.
