Managing Obsessive Compulsive Behavior in Schools 40 mins. – This DVD shows how to recognize obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) in the classroom and offers strategies for managing difficult behaviors associated with OCD.  40 mins.

  D 155.937 GOL 2001 – A Look at Children’s Grief (CD – ROM)

This CD-ROM explores childhood loss and grief and presents techniques for helping children through the process of grief resolution. It describes the four psychological tasks of grief experienced by children. 30 mins.

  DVD 649.1 FAB 2002 – TITLE: How to talk so Kids will Listen: This set teaches how to build better relationships with children. It shows how to help children manage their feelings and how to engage a child’s cooperation. The set also examines alternatives to punishment, demonstrates ways to encourage autonomy, and teaches specific skills for giving effective praise. 30 mins.

Basic Skills for Raising Confident Children: This DVD features illustrative dramatization and commentary from educators, counselors, and psychologist.   The program shows how to build strong parent-child relationships, teach and reinforce desirable behaviors, create an environment that fosters intellect and confidence, develops a stable and reassuring routine, and work through parental conflict in a constructive manner.  23 mins.

  D 303.69 DUE 2010 - The Art of Conflict Management: Achieving Solutions for Life, Work, and Beyond: 24 segments, 30 mins each. Featuring Michael Dues of the University of Arizona this lecture series defines conflict, considers why it is inevitable, even in successful relationships; and explains why constructively managing conflict is essential and beneficial. It covers such topics as the adversary system; win-win conflict resolution; the roles of perception, emotion, and power in conflict; conflict styles; dysfunctional conflict strategies; negotiations; and listening skills.

It explains that the method combines motivational interviewing, stages of change, and cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients identify, asses, and understand their own patterns of abuse. 80 mins

  Goal Planning: This DVD demonstrates how to work on goal planning with a client, and presents an unrehearsed home visit. It describes the purpose of the visit, provides important case background information on the client, and summarizes the results of the visit. 25 minutes
  Kinship Care This DVD examining issues that may arise in a kinship family, this program discusses family feuds, allegiance to birth parents, and instances of defiance. 40 minutes
  Working with Birth Parents: Visitation This DVD explains what to expect during visitations with birth parents. It shows how to deal with cancellations and no-shows and teaches how to help foster children transition back into a home. 40 minutes
  Teaching Moments: How Foster Parents Can Teach Independent Living Skills To Teens This DVD shows foster parents how to encourage self-reliance in teens. 28 minutes
  Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Child Sexual Abuse/ Part 2 Recognizing the Signs of Sexual Abuse This DVD explains why child abuse often continues for years, identifies ways in which perpetrators control their victims and their victims’ families, examines the effects of sexual abuse on children, and describes behavioral indicators of sexual abuse. 68 minutes
  Healing Child Abuse thru Psychodrama This DVD explains that psychodrama enables clients to safely reinhabit their bodies and make sense of an experience, this program shows how to utilize role play, role reversal, and doubling with clients who have suffered the trauma of child abuse. 86 minutes
  Substance Abuse This DVD considers the psychological reasons behind addiction. It explores the potential consequences of serious drug or alcohol abuse, including the possibility of turning to a life of petty crime or prostitution, alienating friends and family, and accumulating serious debts. The program follows the lives of two former drug addicts, documenting their struggles to stay clean despite numerous challenges, and looks at the realities of life in a treatment center. 15 minutes
     
  Adolescent Drug Abuse: Family –Based This DVD, Howard Liddle discusses his research on the effective of a strong, family-based approach when treating substance-abusing youth. 70 minutes
  Understanding Addictions This DVD examines addictions and addresses the biological, psychological, and social aspects of addiction. It considers factors that cause individuals to begin using drugs and alcohol, shows how drugs impact the brain, identifies major types of drugs, and explains why drug addictions are resistant to treatment.
