The Couple

Artist's Bio:
The artwork of Jeremiah Stansbury often times
presents the viewer with a visual dilemma (and treat) which can take a bit of
time to reconcile. He has created his own visual language which is
simultaneously childlike in its freedom and playfulness, yet sophisticated and
cerebral in its final effect. His works individually offer an amalgam of
seemingly incongruent insights: disturbing yet funny; playful yet morose; naive
yet sophisticated. And on and on...
SIMPLE TOY, Stansbury's new exhibit explores a number of themes in the stream of
consciousness manner which typically hallmarks the work of the University of
Memphis graduate. His equal commitment to the exploration of themes and media
have resulted in the creation of a world of uniquely inspired imagery and rich
surface quality.
