Ornithology/Mammalogy - Dr. John Hunt and Dr. Chris Sims
Collection of mammal species and birds
will occur. Characteristics of different animals will be compared. Ecology
discussion will be included.
Genes in a bottle - Dr. Jeff Taylor
Students extract
their DNA from cheek cells, isolate them, and store them in a sealed
necklace container.
Day 2 -
Pictures
GMO Investigator
- Dr. Marvin Fawley and Dr. Karen Fawley
Test for the presence of genetically
modified organism sequences in common foods. Discuss genetically modified
organisms, how they are produced, etc..
Herpetology
- Dr. Glenn Manning
Observation and study of reptiles species will occur. Characteristics of
different animals will be compared. Habitat and preservation will be
discussed.
Day 3 -

Energy content
comparison of various hydrocarbon fuels - Dr. Martha Baskett
Several hydrocarbons currently used as
fuels will be tested. Energy content of these fuels will be compared, and
related to cost of production, etc..

Properties of light, lenses, filters, mirrors will be studied
