The University of Arkansas at Monticello School of Computer Information Systems recognized its outstanding students during an awards presentation at the School's annual reception. The reception was held on April 23, 2002, in the Capitol Dining Room at the John F. Gibson University Center.
Honored guests included the UAM Chancellor, Dr. Fred Taylor; the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Dennnis Travis; the Director of University Relations and the UAM Foundation, Dr. Peggy Doss; and the Registrar, Dr. DebbieBryant.
The Academic Excellence Award Nominees included Chad R. Bassett, Andrea Jo Chambers, Kim Daniel, Karen-Elise Donham, Carolyn J. Fielder, Naomi C. Freeman, James Hartshorn, Pamela R. Hopper, Jamie Reginelli, Mark C. Simpson, Jr., Trey Stutts, Amanda M. Tate, Lisa M. Thomas, Denson George Watson, Sr., and Ashley Booke Young.
Each nominee was presented a certificate recognizing their nomination.

The two teams who represented UAM at the Annual Collegiate Programming Competition at Little Rock in February received certificates honoring their participation. The annual contest is sponsored by Acxiom corporation.
The team of Adrea Chambers, James Hartshorn, and Ashley Young won first place in the COBOL programming competition.
The team of Trey Stutts, Jared Wrzeninski, and Catherine Russell (not pictured) placed fifth in the competition. Carol Wright was the alternate.
CIS faculty members Ms. Lori Selby and Dr. James Roiger served as Masters of Ceremonies for the awards presentation and were assisted in making the presentations by faculty members Ms. Jean Hendrix, and Ms. Terri Hopkins.
A special thanks goes to Ms. Nancy Tappe, the School's Support Specialist, who worked very hard to make it all happen.
