MONROE, La. – In her first contest as a member of the University of Arkansas at Monticello women’s basketball team, true freshman LaChasity Seale led all scorers with 20 points in an 89-67 loss to the University of Louisiana at Monroe Thursday in an exhibition game.
The ULM game was the start of a three-game exhibition stretch against NCAA Division I teams to open the 2009-10 season, continuing this Sunday, November 8 in Starkville, Miss. against Mississippi State and concluding next Friday, November 13 in Natchitoches, La. against Northwestern State.
In the loss to ULM, Seale (North Little Rock, Ark.) went 6-of-9 from the field, all six coming on three-pointers. She only attempted one two-point shot in her 34 minutes of play.
Junior teammate Nykita Gordon (Helena-West Helena, Ark.) also reached double-digits with 12 points after connecting on 5-of-7 field goal attempts, including 2-of-3 from the charity stripe.
As a team, the Cotton Blossoms shot just over 46 percent from the field (19-of-41), 50 percent from three-point range (7-of-14) and just over 66 percent from the free-throw stripe (22-of-33).
The Warhawks were led by Priscilla Mbijanda’s team-high 18 points. Four other ULM players reached double-digits in the contest.
Sunday’s game at Mississippi State is scheduled for a 2 p.m. tipoff at Humphrey Coliseum on the MSU campus.
