MONTICELLO  – The University of Arkansas at Monticello women’s basketball team kept its perfect season intact with a 92-61 win at home over West Florida in the final game of the 2nd annual Dr. Mary Jane Gilbert Classic.

The Blossoms (4-0) combined for 11 three-pointers, led by senior Addie Lees (Plainview, Texas) who connected on 4-of-8 attempts. Lees added four more field goals and two free-throws to lead the game with 22 points.

Lees along with freshman teammate Jerica Hubard (Ashdown, Ark.) were named to the all-tournament team, while Hubard earned the tournament’s most outstanding player award.

Hubard led the Blossoms with 16 points in the win over Missouri-St. Louis on Friday and turned in another good performance in the win over West Florida (2-5) with 13 points and seven rebounds. She was 5-of-9 from the field while also racking up a pair of steals.

Freshman Taylor Clark (Searcy, Ark.) continued her impressive inaugural campaign as a Blossom with 19 points in the win, giving her three games this season with at least 10 points. She went 7-of-11 from the field, including a 3-of-5 mark from behind the three-point line.

In the first half, UAM jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead with less than two minutes used off the clock thanks in part to a pair of successful three-pointers from Clark.

West Florida did manage to grab the lead at the 14:01 mark with a three-pointer from Amy Drake. UAM re-gained the lead when senior Andrea Dubose (Hickory, Miss.) was fouled on a three-point attempt. Dubose sunk all three of her foul shots to give the Blossoms a 16-13 lead with 13:08 left in the opening half.

UAM then took control of the game, extending its lead to as much as 15 with less than a minute remaining in the half to give the team a 47-34 lead going into the locker room.

In the second half, the Blossoms improved their team field goal percentage by almost one point, while the Argonauts only shot 35 percent to allow UAM to pull out to a 20-point lead with 10 minutes left in regulation.

From there, UAM stretched its lead to 25 with a three-pointer by Clark to give the Blossoms and 82-57 advantage with just under four minutes left. Hubard nailed two jumpers in the final minute to give UAM its final edge of 92-61.

From the charity stripe, UAM shot 70.4 percent, connecting on 19-of-27 attempts.
