Sophomore Erika Brown nailed a three-point
attempt as time expired to give the
University of Arkansas at Monticello a 64-61
win over North Alabama in UNA’s Marriot
Shoals Classic Tuesday night.
Senior
Andrea Dubose (Hickory, Miss.) created
the game’s sixth tie with a trey with 31
seconds remaining, followed by a crucial
steal by junior Nicole Lowe (Jackson,
Miss.) with 20 seconds left, setting up
Brown (Shreveport, La.) for the
game-winning three-pointer.
Dubose led all
scorers with 17 points after shooting
6-of-14 from the field and 2-of-7 from
three-point land. The second-year senior
added three free-throws to give her the
final point total. The total marked the
ninth game of the season for Dubose to reach
at least 10 points.
Junior
Monica Perkins-Miller (Houston, Texas)
recorded her fourth double-digit scoring
performance of the season in as many games,
while adding her third double-double of the
season with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Also reaching
double-digits was Brown, who scored 10
points, while also grabbing six rebounds.
North Alabama
was led by Amber Rutherford with 15 points,
followed by Brianna Abrams and Jameica York
with 12 points a piece.
The Blossoms
improve to 8-3, while the Lady Lions drop to
an even 7-7.
UAM steps out
of regular season play for a pair of
exhibition games against NCAA Division I
opponents with a January 2 contest at
Northwestern State (La.), followed by a game
at Louisiana-Monroe on the following day.
