MONROE, La.
– The University of Arkansas at
Monticello women’s basketball team wrapped
up its non-conference portion of the
schedule with a 74-47 loss to
Louisiana-Monroe in exhibition play on
Saturday night.
Junior Monica Perkins-Miller
(Houston, Texas) led the Blossoms with 11
points, while also grabbing seven rebounds
in her 19 minutes of play off the bench.
The Blossoms shot 31 percent from the field,
while the Lady Warhawks posted a 51 percent
performance, shooting 31-of-61 as a team.
Also turning in productive performances was
sophomore Erika Brown (Shreveport,
La.) with eight points and four rebounds,
followed by junior Nicole Lowe
(Jackson, Miss.) and freshman Jerica
Hubard (Ashdown, Ark.) with seven points
each. Hubard grabbed a game-high nine
rebounds in the loss.
The Lady Warhawks grabbed the lead first and
never trailed, including their largest lead
of 30 points with 5:28 left in the second
half.
ULM was led by Lottie Moore and Sannisha
Williams with 16 points each. Jesse Carrier
also reached double-digits for the Lady
Warhawks, scoring 10 points.
The Blossoms remain 8-3 overall due to the
exhibition status, but the Lady Warhawks
improve to 8-5 overall.
UAM begins its 14-game Gulf South Conference
schedule on Saturday, January 10 with a 2
p.m. match-up against Christian Brothers in
Monticello at Steelman Fieldhouse. That game
will be available on the radio in southeast
Arkansas at radio station KHBM-FM, 93.7.
