FLORENCE, Ala. –
Senior Andrea Dubose scored 19 points and recorded
six steals in a 71-54 win over Alabama-Huntsville in
the opening day of North Alabama’s Marriot Shoals
Classic.
Dubose
(Hickory, Miss.) connected on 7-of-16 shots from the
field, including a 4-of-8 performance from beyond
the three-point arc.
Also reaching double digits was senior Addie Lees
(Plainview, Texas) with 12 points, while junior
Monica Perkins-Miller (Houston, Texas) record
her second double-double of the season in only three
games with 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.
As a team, the Blossoms (7-3) combined to shoot 37.7
percent (23-61) from the field, allowing the Lady
Chargers (2-9) to win the category with a 43.6
percent (24-55) game from the field.
UAM dominated from the charity stripe, which did not
take much, as UAH only reached the line twice in the
game, missing both attempts. On the other hand, the
Blossoms shot 17-of-22 for 77.3 percent for the
entire game. Perkins-Miller led the Blossoms
individually, shooting 6-of-8 from the foul line.
The Blossoms continue play in the Marriot Shoals
Classic tomorrow (Tuesday) against host team, North
Alabama. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. in
Florence.
