FLORENCE, Ala.  – Senior Andrea Dubose scored 19 points and recorded six steals in a 71-54 win over Alabama-Huntsville in the opening day of North Alabama’s Marriot Shoals Classic.

Dubose (Hickory, Miss.) connected on 7-of-16 shots from the field, including a 4-of-8 performance from beyond the three-point arc.

Also reaching double digits was senior Addie Lees (Plainview, Texas) with 12 points, while junior Monica Perkins-Miller (Houston, Texas) record her second double-double of the season in only three games with 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.

As a team, the Blossoms (7-3) combined to shoot 37.7 percent (23-61) from the field, allowing the Lady Chargers (2-9) to win the category with a 43.6 percent (24-55) game from the field.

UAM dominated from the charity stripe, which did not take much, as UAH only reached the line twice in the game, missing both attempts. On the other hand, the Blossoms shot 17-of-22 for 77.3 percent for the entire game. Perkins-Miller led the Blossoms individually, shooting 6-of-8 from the foul line.

The Blossoms continue play in the Marriot Shoals Classic tomorrow (Tuesday) against host team, North Alabama. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Florence.
