Contact: Brian Ramsey, UAM Sports Information

HONOLULU, Hawaii - True-freshman Jerica Hubard started her collegiate career with an impressive 17-point, 10-rebound performance to lift the University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team over Hawai'i Pacific in the 2008-09 season opener by a final count of 90-75.

Hubard (Ashdown, Ark.) finished the game going 5-of-11 from the field and 7-of-11 from the charity stripe.

Hubard led the Blossoms in scoring, but not by much, as four of her teammates also reached double-digits.

Junior Nicole Lowe (Jackson, Miss.) was the next highest scorer with 15 points. Sophomore Bethaney Turner (Mountain View, Ark.) turned in 14, freshman Taylor Clark (Searcy, Ark.) had 12 and sophomore Erika Brown (Shreveport, La.) rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11.

UAM now improves to 1-0 and concludes its Hawai'i trip with a contest against Chaminade today at 6:30 p.m. Hawai'i time, 10:30 p.m. central time.
