HONOLULU,
Hawaii - True-freshman Jerica Hubard started
her collegiate career with an impressive 17-point,
10-rebound performance to lift the University of
Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team over
Hawai'i Pacific in the 2008-09 season opener by a final
count of 90-75.
Hubard (Ashdown, Ark.) finished the game going
5-of-11 from the field and 7-of-11 from the charity
stripe.
Hubard led the Blossoms in scoring, but not by much, as
four of her teammates also reached double-digits.
Junior Nicole Lowe (Jackson, Miss.) was the next
highest scorer with 15 points. Sophomore Bethaney
Turner (Mountain View, Ark.) turned in 14, freshman
Taylor Clark (Searcy, Ark.) had 12 and sophomore
Erika Brown (Shreveport, La.) rounded out the
double-digit scorers with 11.
UAM now improves to 1-0 and concludes its Hawai'i trip
with a contest against Chaminade today at 6:30 p.m.
