Sophomore Erika Brown scored
a career high 33 points,
aiding the University of
Arkansas at Monticello
women’s basketball team to a
81-72 win over Christian
Brothers on Thursday,
extending the team’s streak
to six consecutive wins.
Brown (Shreveport, La.) shot
a game-high 14-of-20 from
the field, 2-of-2 from three
point range and 3-of-4 from
the foul line in route to
her career high. Her point
total is also the highest
single-game total for a
player in the Chris Ratcliff
era.
Senior Andrea Dubose
(Hickory, Miss.) also
reached double-digits in the
win, tallying 15 points,
including nine off
three-pointers.
Reigning GSC-West Player of
the Week Monica
Perkins-Miller (Houston,
Texas) also turned in an
impressive performance,
recording her sixth
double-double of the season
with 10 points and 16
rebounds.
The Blossoms shot 48 percent
from the field (29-of-62),
44 percent from three-point
range (11-of-25) and 72
percent from the foul line
(18-of-25). CBU shot 38
percent from the field
(24-of-63), 27 percent from
three-point range (6-of-22)
and 81 percent from the foul
line (18-of-22).
With the win, UAM improves
to 15-4 overall and 7-1 in
GSC games, while CBU drops
to 8-13 overall and 1-7 in
GSC games.
The Blossoms continue GSC
play next Thursday, February
12 at home with a 5:30 p.m.
contest against division
leading Delta State. DSU
dropped its first GSC game
of the season with a 64-58
setback in Arkadelphia to
Ouachita Baptist. Both teams
will have a 7-1 GSC record,
giving the winner sole
possession of first place in
the division.
