INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello women’s basketball went from un-ranked last week to earning No. 5 ranking in this week’s release of the NCAA South Region Rankings.

UAM used an historic upset over No. 20 Arkansas Tech followed by a comfortable win over Southern Arkansas two days later to boost its value in the regional rankings system.

This week, Rollins leads the rankings with a 17-2 record against NCAA Division II teams and 15-2 record against in-region opponents, followed by Delta State (15-5 D2, 15-3 In-Region), West Georgia (13-4 D2, 13-4 In-Region), Fort Valley State (16-4 D2, 16-4 In-Region), UAM (13-4 D2, 11-4 In-Region), Lynn (13-6 D2, 12-4 In-Region), Florida Southern (13-5 D2, 12-4 In-Region), Clark Atlanta (13-2 D2, 13-2 In-Region), Barry (14-5 D2, 9-4 In-Region) and Tampa (13-5 D2, 11-5 In-Region).

UAM also earned nine votes in this week’s USA Today WBCA/ESPN Top 25 Poll.

At the end of the season, the top eight teams advance to the NCAA Regional Tournament, usually hosted by either the No. 1 or No. 2 seed of each respective region.
