UAM jumped on the Golden Suns
early, leading by five less than three
minutes into the game. With a jumper from
junior guard Andrea Dubose (Hickory,
Miss.) with three minutes remaining in the
first half, the Blossoms held their final
lead of the game 32-30 over the Suns.
Tech used a 6-0 run in the
last two minutes to take a 38-32 lead into
the locker room at halftime.
UAM was out-shot the entire
game, with the final field goal percentages
being in Tech’s favor – 44 percent to UAM’s
35 percent.
True freshman Janette
Thompson (Hot Springs, Ark.) has been on
a hot streak as of late, adding a team-best
19 points in the loss, including a game-high
five three pointers. Thompson was fresh off
another 19-point performance in the
Henderson State overtime win.
Trailing closely for UAM was
Dubose, who scored 18 points in the loss,
including four three pointers.
Tech was led by senior
Krishna Baker, who scored a game-high 20
points, and also grabbed nine rebounds.
Ashley Grappe scored 18 points, while Diane
Domingos scored 11 points. GSC West Player
of the Week Amanda Grappe was held to only
eight points, which was her second worst
performance of the season. Grappe was also
snapped of her streak of four straight
double-doubles.
The loss moves UAM to 13-12
overall and 6-6 in the GSC, while Tech
improves to 22-3 and 11-1 in the GSC, moving
its win streak to six straight.
The next action for the
Blossoms is Thursday, Feb. 28 at home
against Christian Brothers. Tip-off is
scheduled for 5:30 p.m. The game can be
