BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
Senior
Lindsey Randall has been named the Gulf
South Conference West Division Player of
the Week, while freshman teammate Kayla
Jackson was named Pitcher of the Week.
In this past weekend’s Bentonville
Softball Classic, Randall led the
Blossoms with an impressive .700
batting average after going 14-for-20
at the plate over five games. She hit
three doubles, three homeruns and drove
in seven runs for a slugging percentage
of 1.300. She also recorded three stolen
bases in as many attempts.
Randall started the classic going
4-for-4 with two homeruns in the team’s
9-1 win over East Central Oklahoma on
Friday. On Sunday, she recorded another
4-for-4 game against Missouri Southern,
including her third homerun of the
weekend.
Jackson is off to an excellent freshman
season, recording nine consecutive
complete-game wins. More impressively,
she has only allowed six earned runs in
55 innings.
This past weekend, she recorded three
wins with a 0.74 ERA in 19 innings of
work. She only allowed two earned runs
and struck out 15 batters. In the first
game against Missouri Southern on
Sunday, Jackson threw a complete-game
one hitter in route to the team’s 8-0
win in six innings. In that win, she
struck out six batters, while only
allowing MSSU to reach scoring position
twice.
