BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
Freshman Kayla Jackson has been
selected as the Gulf South
Conference West Division Player
of the Week after batting .579
and helping lead the University
of Arkansas at Monticello
softball team to a trio of wins.
Jackson (Hallsville, Texas), who
has also been named the GSC-West
Pitcher of the Week this season,
tallied 11 hits in 19 at bats
throughout the week, including
three games of at least two
hits. She also racked up eight
RBI and four doubles, while
reaching base in 58 percent of
her at bats.
Overall this season, Jackson is
third on the team with a .380
batting average and is leading
the team with 42 RBI. She also
leads the team from the pitching
circle with a 21-6 record and a
1.08 ERA.
Arkansas Tech’s Morgan Rodgers
completed the GSC-West award
winners, earning Pitcher of the
Week honors. In the East,
Alabama-Huntsville’s Beth Lawson
was named Player of the Week,
while West Florida hurler
Jillian LaFrance was dubbed
Pitcher of the Week.
