MONTICELLO – Head
softball coach at the University of Arkansas at
Monticello Alvy Early has announced the
signing of three players to join the team in
2010.
The first is
Faith Lund. Lund is a 5-8 pitcher from
Bentonville, Ark. and a product of Early’s son
Kent. “I think Faith is one of the top players
in Arkansas,” said Early. “I’ve been able to
follow her closely, and she is not only an
outstanding pitcher, but she can also hit the
ball well with power.
Also joining the
team in 2010 is Lauren Webster. Webster
is a 5-7 outfielder from Ben Wheeler Texas.
“Lauren has outstanding ability to cover ground
in the outfield and is a smart base runner,”
said Early. “She can slap or hit away at the
plate, while also hitting well for average.”
The last of the
three is Maggie Sands. Sands is a 5-3
catcher and outfielder from Ferris, Texas.
“Maggie has outstanding quickness from the left
side and she puts the ball in play at a very
high percentage,” said Early. “She does a good
job behind the plate and has great ability to
throw runners out.”
“I am very pleased
to sign these three,” said Early. “All three of
them have great athletic ability, but they are
also tremendous students, the type of players I
strive to put on the field.”
