MONTICELLO –
Junior Carlos West nailed six three pointers to
lead the University of Arkansas at Monticello men’s
basketball team to a 119-70 win over Shorter College in
exhibition play on Tuesday night.
West (6-1, 175, Americas, Ga.) finished the game
with 22 total points, 14 of which came in the second
half, when he connected on five field goal attempts.
Four of those were from beyond the three-point line.
The Weevils led the Bulldogs 56-28 at the halftime
break.
In the second half, West’s 14 points was the team lead,
followed by junior James Early (6-7, 225,
Arlington, Ga.), who scored 11 second-half points to
give him a game total of 15.
UAM had six other players reach double figures in
scoring. Seniors Antwain Cosey (6-9, 215, Flint,
Mich.), Don Riley (6-4, 195, Pine Bluff, Ark.)
and Bernard Seymour (6-4, 215, Biloxi, Miss.) all
finished with 15 points, followed by junior Derek
Easter (6-6, 205, El Dorado, Ark.) and senior
Raymond Wright (6-9, 225, New York, N.Y.) with 11.
Senior Deron Brown (5-10, 180, Paris, Ky.)
rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10.
