ARKADELPHIA, Ark. –
The University of Arkansas at
Monticello men’s basketball team
snapped its four game losing
streak with an 80-68 win over
Henderson State Thursday night
in Gulf South Conference action.
Senior Raymond Wright led all
scorers with 26 points, while
also grabbing a game-high eight
rebounds in the win. Senior
Deron Brown and sophomore Marius
Williams also reached
double-digits with 18 points and
12 points, respectively.
The Weevils (17-7, 6-5 GSC)
improved upon its 47 percent
shooting in the first half to
finish the contest with a 49
percent mark from the field
(29-of-59). The Reddies (3-20,
1-10 GSC) only shot 38 percent
from the floor (24-of-63)
resulting in their ninth
straight loss.
The Weevils led for the entirety
of the first half, but allowed
the Reddies to post two leads in
the second half, but never more
than three points. UAM extended
its lead to as much as 16 points
with 1:25 remaining in the
contest.
The Reddies were led by Kyle
Oldham’s 16 points, followed by
Vincent Patterson with 14 and
Jonathan Simms with 12.
UAM continues GSC play this
Saturday, February 21 with a
home-contest against Harding.
Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
at Steelman Fieldhouse in
Monticello.
