Contact: Brian Ramsey, UAM Sports Information

MONTICELLO  – The University of Arkansas at Monticello men’s basketball team opened its 2008-09 home portion of the schedule with a 109-61 win over Crowley’s Ridge College.

Six Weevils finished the game in double-digits, led by senior Deron Brown (Paris, Ky.) with 25. Brown hit 10-of-19 field goals, including a 3-of-9 game from beyond the arc.

Also reaching double-digits was junior Derek Easter (El Dorado, Ark.) with 17, senior Bernard Seymour (Biloxi, Miss.) and senior Raymond Wright (New York, N.Y.) with 13, sophomore Marius Williams (Belleville, Mich.) with 12, and senior Antwain Cosey (Flint, Mich.) with 11.

The Weevils (2-0) out-shot the Pioneers (3-3) 49 percent to 37 percent, while also connecting on 16-of-19 attempts from the charity stripe.

In addition to Easter’s 17 points was a game-high nine rebounds.

Out of the 11 UAM players that saw action in the game, only one did not record a point. The Weevils have now posted at least 100 points in both of their games this season.

The Weevils stay in Monticello for its next game – a November 25 showdown against Philander Smith. That game is scheduled to tip-off at 6 p.m. from Steelman Fieldhouse.
