INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Both basketball teams at the University of Arkansas at Monticello have been ranked sixth in this week’s release of the NCAA South Region Rankings.
 
The Weevils (18-7 Overall, 13-7 Division II, 12-7 In-Region) remain in the sixth spot from a week ago, while the Blossoms (17-6 Overall, 16-6 Division II, 14-6 In-Region) improved three spots from ninth place a week ago.
 
On the women’s side, Delta State (19-6 D2, 19-4 In-Region) jumped to No. 1, followed, in order, by Fort Valley State (22-4 D2, 22-4 In-Region), Rollins (21-4 D2, 19-4 In-Region), West Georgia (18-4 D2, 18-4 In-Region) and Tampa (19-5 D2, 17-5 In-Region). Arkansas Tech (14-7 D2, 14-6 In-Region) and Clark Atlanta (19-3 D2, 19-2 In-Region) round out the top eight.
 
On the men’s side, Claflin (21-2 D2, 21-2 In-Region) held on to the top spot, followed, in order, by Christian Brothers (17-3 D2, 17-3 In-Region), Benedict (22-4 D2, 22-4 In-Region), Florida Southern (21-5 D2, 18-4 In-Region) and Delta State (15-6 D2, 15-5 In-Region). Rollins (15-8 D2, 14-7 In-Region) and Valdosta State (18-5 D2, 18-5 In-Region) round out to the top eight.
 
At the end of the season, the top eight teams from each region advance to the NCAA Regional Tournament, usually hosted by the No. 1 or No. 2 seed of each respective region.
