KANSAS CITY, Mo.
– The
University of Arkansas at Monticello men’s
basketball team has been ranked the fifth best
team in the nation in the latest National
Association of Basketball Coaches Division II
Top 25 Poll.
The Weevils (9-0)
moved up three spots from No. 8 in last week’s
poll after having an idle week.
UAM still leads
all schools in the Gulf South Conference. The
only other league schools in this week’s poll
are Arkansas Tech at No. 20 and Valdosta State
(Ga.) tied for No. 25. Christian Brothers
(Tenn.) received 13 votes, followed by Harding
with three and Ouachita Baptist (Ark.) with two.
The Weevils look
to keep their perfect record intact with two
contests in the Hilltopper Holiday Classic
hosted by St. Edwards (Texas) on December 29-30
in Austin, Texas. The team plays St. Edwards on
the 29th, followed by a contest
against Texas A&M-Commerce on the 30th.
