Contact: Brian Ramsey, UAM Sports Information

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello men’s basketball team has dropped to No. 22 in the latest release of the NABC Division II Top 25 Poll.

UAM (16-4, 5-2 GSC) started the past week victorious in a Top 25 Showdown with No. 22 Arkansas Tech with a final score of 56-53 in Monticello.

However, the Weevils could not out last Southern Arkansas two days later, falling on the road 48-46 on a buzzer-beating shot by SAU’s Channin Harden.

This is the ninth consecutive week UAM has been ranked in the Top 25 and the third time the Weevils have been in the 20-25 range. UAM reached as high as No. 5 in the last week of December.

UAM and No. 10 Christian Brothers are the only two GSC teams represented in this week’s poll. The two teams square off this Thursday, February 5 in Memphis, Tenn. CBU leads the GSC-West Division with a 6-1 record in league games and is the only other team to defeat the Weevils in GSC play this season with a 68-64 decision on January 10 in Monticello.

Three other GSC teams received votes in this week’s poll. Valdosta State (Ga.) received four, Delta State (Miss.) received three and North Alabama received two.
