The
University of Arkansas at Monticello
men’s basketball team jumped three spots
to No. 16 in the latest NABC Division II
Coaches Poll, released Tuesday.
UAM moves back on top of all other Gulf
South Conference teams as Christian
Brothers fell to No. 17 and Arkansas
Tech fell to No. 22. The team also
extends its streak to eight consecutive
weeks being ranked in the NABC Top 25
Poll.
The Weevils improved its ranking, going
undefeated over the past week and
extending their winning streak to four
straight wins. The team first knocked
off Henderson State at home by a final
score of 64-50, followed by a
come-from-behind 63-59 win over Harding
on the road two days later. The win over
Harding gave UAM head coach Mike Newell
a 107-106 coaching record at UAM, moving
him above .500. at UAM.
UAM now prepares for a Top 25 showdown
with No. 22 Arkansas Tech set for this
Thursday, January 29 in Monticello at
Steelman Fieldhouse. Tip-off is set for
7:30 p.m.
