KANSAS
CITY, Mo. – After losing a pair of
games over the holiday break, the
University of Arkansas at Monticello
men’s basketball team dropped to No. 14
in the latest NABC/Division II Top 25
Poll.
The Weevils fell to St. Edward’s 79-59
on December 29, followed by a 72-69 loss
to Texas A&M-Commerce one day later to
force the team out of the top 10. The
Weevils were able to stay in the top 15
by securing a 71-62 win over Montevallo
at home this past Saturday. The poll
does not reflect Monday’s 88-48 win over
Ecclesia College.
The Weevils still remain the highest
ranked team among Gulf South Conference
schools. Arkansas Tech is the next
highest at No. 17, followed by Valdosta
State at No. 18.
The Weevils defend and hope to improve
their No. 14 ranking this Saturday, when
the team hosts Christian Brothers in the
GSC season opener. Tip-off is set for 4
p.m. at Steelman Fieldhouse. Fans in
southeast Arkansas can catch the action
on the radio at KHBM-FM, 93.7. That
broadcast can also be heard worldwide
over the Internet at uamsports.com.
