UAM
FOOTBALL RECEIVES VOTES IN PRE-SEASON POLLS

MONTICELLO –
After being
ranked as high
as No. 23 last
season, the
University of
Arkansas at
Monticello
football team is
receiving votes
in two preseason
polls to begin
the 2009
campaign.
The American
Football Coaches
Association (AFCA)
has the Weevils
with 17 votes
prior to opening
weekend and
D2Football.com
has the team
with an
undisclosed
amount of votes.
Selective head
coaches at the
NCAA Division II
level voted upon
AFCA’s poll,
while members of
the media voted
upon
D2Football.com’s
poll.
D2Football.com
also released
its preseason
awards,
including naming
junior
quarterback
Scott Buisson
the Gulf South
Conference
Preseason
Offensive Player
of the Year, as
well as first
team
quarterback.
Other GSC teams
represented in
AFCA’s poll are
Delta State at
No. 4, North
Alabama at No. 6
and Valdosta
State at No. 12.
Arkansas Tech
also received
four votes,
while UAM’s
first opponent,
Tarleton State,
received 38
votes.
D2Football.com
has Delta State
ranked No. 3 to
begin the
season, North
Alabama at No. 5
and Valdosta
State at No. 8.
Arkansas Tech
and Tarleton
State also
received votes
in the poll.
