MONTICELLO – University of Arkansas at Monticello wide receiver Joseph Lockwood has been named to the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Football Team, announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Lockwood, a junior from Stuttgart, is majoring in biology at UAM and currently sports a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average.
Through 10 games this season, Lockwood is second on the team with 34 receptions for 461 yards and is tied with teammate Jywin Ceaser for a team-high four touchdown catches.
With his All-District selection, Lockwood’s name will be placed on the ballot for the Academic All-America team to be announced later this month.
The all-academic teams are nominated and voted upon by members of CoSIDA. To be eligible for consideration, the student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA, cannot be a first-year transfer or freshman and must be a significant contributor to their respective athletic team.
