FORMER UAM WR SIGNS WITH JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS

JACKSONVILLE,
Fla. – The
Jacksonville
Jaguars
announced
yesterday the
signing of
former
University of
Arkansas at
Monticello wide
receiver
Clarence
Denmark.
Denmark was
signed as a
rookie free
agent and is
currently
participating in
the Jaguar’s
pre-season
training camp.

The
Jacksonville
Jaguars have
signed rookie
free agent wide
receiver
Clarence
Denmark. A
native of
Jacksonville,
Denmark played
the last two
seasons at
Arkansas-Monticello
after
transferring
from Troy
University.
Denmark (5-11,
185) finished
with 54
receptions for
987 yards and 11
touchdowns in
2008 along with
27 kickoff
returns for 544
yards. The
23-year-old
receiver
lettered in
football and
track at Robert
E. Lee High
School. He
returned five
kicks for
touchdowns
during his high
school career.
Denmark finished
his UAM career
with a total of
91 receptions
for 1,586 yards
with 14
touchdowns and a
career-long
reception of 69
yards. He also
had 34 kickoff
returns for 629
yards, averaging
out to 18.5
yards per
return. His
career receiving
yards total
ranks ninth
all-time in UAM
history.
Denmark is
hoping to be
just the third UAM
football player
to play with an
NFL team.
Another wide
receiver,
Derrick
Armstrong,
played four
seasons with the
Houston Texans
from 2003-06 and
is currently
playing with the CFL’s Winnipeg
Blue Bombers.
Mike Nichols
played center
for two seasons
with the Denver
Broncos from
1960-61.
