MONTICELLO –
For the second
straight season,
quarterback
Scott Buisson
has been chosen
by the Little
Rock Touchdown
Club as the most
valuable player
for the
University of
Arkansas at
Monticello
football team.
Buisson
(Metairie, La.),
along with the
MVPs from other
Arkansas
schools, will be
honored at the 5th
Annual LRTDC
Awards Banquet
on January 10,
2009 at the
Embassy Suites
Hotel in West
Little Rock.
Buisson earns
his second award
in as many
seasons at UAM,
as the sophomore
has already
cemented his
name into the
record books
with only two
seasons played.
This year,
Buisson led the
Weevils to a 7-4
record, the
first winning
season at UAM
since 2004 and
the best finish
under
fourth-year head
coach Gwaine
Mathews.
Over his 11
starts this
year, Buisson
racked up 4,019
yards of total
offense,
including 2,700
yards passing
and 1,319 yards
rushing, both
team highs.
The sophomore
also added
several awards
to his already
impressive
resume,
including the
2008 Gulf South
Conference
Offensive Player
of the Year, two
GSC Player of
the Week awards,
one
D2football.com
National Player
of the Week
award, was named
the
Arkansas-Democrat
Gazette and
Arkansas
Sports 360
Offensive Player
of the Year for
the state of
Arkansas and was
named the
Amateur Athlete
of the Month for
September by the
All-State Sugar
Bowl.
Also, he became
the first
collegiate
player at any
NCAA level to
pass for at
least 400 yards
and rush for at
least 200 yards
in a
single-game,
when he tallied
424 yards
passing with
five touchdowns
and 216 yards
rushing with two
touchdowns in a
51-48 win over
Henderson State
on September 20.

the banquet are

The club will
also honor each
the Arkansas
Democrat-Gazette
most
valuable player
and coach of the
year from each
high school
classification.
Each award
winner will have
a video
presentation,
receive a large
club plaque and
be given the
opportunity to
speak.
A sellout crowd
of 600 is
expected.
