BUISSON TO BE HONORED BY LITTLE ROCK TOUCHDOWN CLUB
December 22, 2008
Contact: Brian Ramsey, UAM Sports Information

MONTICELLO – For the second straight season, quarterback Scott Buisson has been chosen by the Little Rock Touchdown Club as the most valuable player for the University of Arkansas at Monticello football team.

Buisson (Metairie, La.), along with the MVPs from other Arkansas schools, will be honored at the 5th Annual LRTDC Awards Banquet on January 10, 2009 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in West Little Rock.

Buisson earns his second award in as many seasons at UAM, as the sophomore has already cemented his name into the record books with only two seasons played.

This year, Buisson led the Weevils to a 7-4 record, the first winning season at UAM since 2004 and the best finish under fourth-year head coach Gwaine Mathews.

Over his 11 starts this year, Buisson racked up 4,019 yards of total offense, including 2,700 yards passing and 1,319 yards rushing, both team highs.

The sophomore also added several awards to his already impressive resume, including the 2008 Gulf South Conference Offensive Player of the Year, two GSC Player of the Week awards, one D2football.com National Player of the Week award, was named the Arkansas-Democrat Gazette and Arkansas Sports 360 Offensive Player of the Year for the state of Arkansas and was named the Amateur Athlete of the Month for September by the All-State Sugar Bowl.

Also, he became the first collegiate player at any NCAA level to pass for at least 400 yards and rush for at least 200 yards in a single-game, when he tallied 424 yards passing with five touchdowns and 216 yards rushing with two touchdowns in a 51-48 win over Henderson State on September 20.

Also expected to be honored at the banquet are Arkansas’ DJ Williams, Arkansas State’s Alex Carrington, Arkansas Tech’s Cole Barthel, Harding’s Sevohn Greer, Henderson State’s Garrett Manning, Ouachita Baptist’s Julius Pruitt, Southern Arkansas’ Steven Dauenhauer, Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s John Keith, Central Arkansas’ Nathan Brown and Arkansas Baptist’s Nate Sims.

The club will also honor each the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette most valuable player and coach of the year from each high school classification.

Each award winner will have a video presentation, receive a large club plaque and be given the opportunity to speak.

A sellout crowd of 600 is expected. Individual tickets are 35 dollars. For more ticket information, go to LRTouchdown.com.
