Contact: Brian Ramsey, UAM Sports Information

FLORENCE, Ala. – Sophomore quarterback Scott Buisson has been named as one of the 24 candidates in the running for the 2008 Harlon Hill Trophy, the most prestigious award given at the NCAA Division II level.

Buisson joins five others in the NCAA’s second super region to be considered for the award. Joining him are Tuskegee quarterback Jacary Atkinson, Arkansas Tech quarterback Cole Barthel, North Alabama quarterback A.J. Milwee, West Alabama linebacker Garry Pack and Tusculum quarterback Corey Russell.

Buisson is the only sophomore in the entire Top 24. The others are 17 seniors and six juniors.

The list of candidates was announced Thursday by the National Harlon Hill Committee.

Players are nominated and voted on by the sports information directors at the 154 NCAA Division II football-playing institutions. The 24 initial candidates will be placed on regional ballots and the top two players from each of the four NCAA regions will advance to the national ballot when regional voting concludes on November 14.
