The
University
of Arkansas
at
Monticello
baseball
team racked
up 13 hits
in a losing
effort on
Sunday to
Arkansas
Tech by a
final score
of 10-6,
giving ATU a
three-game
sweep.
With the
loss, UAM
drops to
6-22-1
overall and
0-3 in GSC
games, while
ATU improves
to 15-18
overall and
4-2 in the
GSC.
The Weevils
scored their
runs over
three
innings with
one run in
the third,
two runs in
the fourth
and three
runs in the
seventh
inning,
while ATU
scored two
runs in the
first, three
runs in the
second, one
run in the
fourth,
three runs
in the fifth
and its
final run in
the bottom
of the
seventh
inning.
ATU racked
up 12 hits
in the
contest,
making the
combined
game total
25.
Junior Brian
Johnson did
the most
damage for
the Weevils,
going
2-for-4 from
the plate
with two
RBI. He
recorded an
RBI-sacrifice
fly in the
top of the
third inning
and an
RBI-single
to center
field in the
top of the
seventh.
Junior Tyler
Henry (0-2)
took the
loss after
throwing the
first four
and one
third
innings,
while
allowing
eight runs
off eight
hits. Henry
allowed only
three walks
and retired
four batters
on
strikeouts.
ATU’s Caleb
Powers (2-1)
earned the
win after
throwing the
first five
innings,
allowing
three runs
off seven
hits, while
also picking
up six
strikeouts.
UAM steps
out of GSC
play for a
single
nine-inning
contest at
Arkansas-Pine
Bluff this
Tuesday,
March 24.
First
pitched is
scheduled
for 6 p.m.
in Pine
Bluff. The
Weevils
follow with
a three-game
home GSC
series next
weekend
against No.
3 Southern
Arkansas.
The two
squads are
set to
battle in a
double-header
on Saturday,
March 28
starting at
12 p.m.,
followed
with a
single
nine-inning
game on
Sunday
starting at
1 p.m.
