WEEVILS PLACE FOUR ON
ALL-GSC FOOTBALL TEAMS
November 16, 2007
Freshman
quarterback Scott Buisson was named Gulf South Conference
Freshman of the Year, while being one of the four Boll Weevils
to be given post-season conference honors.
Buisson joins senior center
Justin Waltz, senior running-back John L. Williams, and
sophomore running-back Andrew Martin on this year’s list of the
best players in the GSC.
Buisson goes into the
record books as the second UAM player to be named the freshman
of the year – following Kevin McCarn’s 1997 honor. Buisson
finished the season ranked first in the conference in three
passing categories with an average of 319.8 passing yards per
game, 32 passing touchdowns and 331 yards of total offense per
game. He was second best in the GSC in pass efficiency with a
142.9 rating.
Waltz (Sr., 6-1, 285,
New Boston, Texas) was given first team All-GSC honors after
being part of an offensive line that only allowed 15 quarterback
hurries over the course of the season.
Williams (Sr., 5-11,
195, Gainesville, Fla.) was placed on the second team All-GSC
after racking up his second best season total in his four
seasons at UAM. Williams sustained an injury that forced him to
miss the last three games of the season. Prior to his injury,
Williams was averaging just over 125 yards per game and had
tallied nine rushing touchdowns.
Martin (So., 5-11, 242,
Cantonment, Fla.) also made the second team All-GSC after being
the lead blocker for Williams. Martin added 156 rushing yards
and 10 catches for 15 yards when he was not creating running
lanes for Williams. |
