Both
basketball
teams at the
University
of Arkansas
at
Monticello
are set to
compete in
the 2009
Gulf South
Conference
Basketball
Championship
Tournament
starting
Tuesday,
March 4 and
lasting
through
Sunday,
March 8.
The
single-elimination
tournament
is being
held in
Southaven,
Miss. at the
Desoto Civic
Center,
approximately
20 minutes
south of
Memphis,
Tenn. All
games are
being played
on one court
and will be
available
via live
stats and
broadband
video.
All UAM
games will
also be
available
live on the
radio in
southeast
Arkansas at
KHBM-FM,
93.7. That
broadcast
can be heard
live over
the Internet
at
http://uamsports.com.

Atlantic is
once again
partnering
with the GSC
to provide

The Boll
Weevils
(19-8, 8-6
GSC) enter
the
tournament
as the No. 4
seed from
the GSC-West
and are set
to play the
No. 5 seed
from the GSC-East,
Montevallo
(15-15, 5-7
GSC), at
2:45 p.m. on
Wednesday,
March 4.
This match
up marks the
second
consecutive
GSC
Tournament
opening-round
meeting
between the
two squads.
The Weevils
ended the
Falcon’s
season with
a 63-61
victory in
last year’s
first round.
This season,
UAM has a
2-0 record
against UM,
including a
67-53 win on
the road and
a 71-62 win
in
Monticello.
UAM trails
3-8 in the
all-time
series with
Montevallo
and sports a
4-5 all-time
record in
the GSC
Tournament.
The Cotton
Blossoms
(18-7, 10-4
GSC) enter
the
tournament
as the No. 2
seed from
the GSC-West
and are set
to play the
No. 3 seed
from the GSC-East,
North
Alabama
(15-12, 8-4
GSC), at
5:30 p.m. on
Thursday,
March 5. UAM
defeated UNA
earlier this
season in
Florence,
Ala. by a
final score
of 64-61.
The Blossoms
have a 1-1
all-time
record
against the
Lady Lions
and a 4-5
all-time
record in
the GSC
Tournament.
