Spring/Summer 2009

John and Carrie Horn Galbraith (BS ’97) and big brother Ryan, 2, recently welcomed Leah Kay and Matthew David to their family on February 19, 2009.  John is a former UAM student and a member of the  Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity.  Carrie graduated in 1997 with a degree in Business with an emphasis in Marketing.  Carrie was a member of the 1996 – 1997 Boll Weevil cheerleading squad.  She is currently employed by the Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network as the Director of Recruitment Services.

Jacob Seth Nowlen (BS ’04) and Lacy Nicole Stanfill were married on March 21, 2009.  Jacob is employed by the Washington Group.  They live in Monticello.

Robert David Hargis (BBA ’07) and Jennifer Leanne Mann (BBA ’07) were married on February 21, 2009 in Hermitage.  Robert is employed as a loan operations specialist at Parkway Bank in Monticello and Jennifer received a master of business administration from Louisiana Tech University in 2008 and is employed as a financial aid officer with the University of Arkansas at Monticello.  They live in Monticello.

Mark Wayne Sikes and Amy Lynn Wood (BBA ’02) were married on February 28, 2009 at Grace Church in Little Rock.  Amy is employed as a clinical coordinator of anesthesiology at Baptist Health in Little Rock.  They live in Little Rock.

Evan Allen Patrick (BS ’05) and Haley Danielle Jacobs (BA ’08) were married on March 21, 2009 at Pauline Baptist Church in Monticello.  Evan is employed by the Southeast Arkansas Education Service Coordinator as the distance learning coordinator and Haley is employed by Monticello Elementary school as a first grade teacher.

Morris Harville (BSE ’64) and his wife Nancy have moved to Red River County Texas where Morris has become the county judge for Red River County.  Prior to his appointment as county judge, Morris enjoyed a 40 year career in teaching, coaching and administration.  education in teaching, coaching and administrative capacities.

O. L. Pearson, Jr.  (BSE ’51) retired in 1990 after coaching and teaching for 39 years.  O. L. and his wife Ann have 4 children, 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.  They live on Lake Claiborne in Homer, Louisiana.

Joe Meeks (BA ’99) and Kristi McKinley Weeks (BA ’98) recently celebrated their 10 wedding anniversary.  Joe has worked for AT&T Mobility for the past 9 years and was recently promoted to RF Engineer for the South Arkansas/East Texas region.  Kristi has been teaching at Drew Central for 6 years.  They have two children, Nathan, 6 and Hannah, 4 and reside in Monticello. 

Dustin Cody Drake (BS ’02) – was recently promoted to from corporal to sergeant with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s department.  Cody worked for the Department of Correction in 2002 and joined the sheriff’s department in March, 2003.  He is also a member of the Special Response team and a 1998 graduate of Star City High School.

Billy Jones (BA ’85) and Pamela Fehr Jones have been married for almost 25 years.  They have two children and two grand-children with a third due soon.    They live in Bossier City, LA.

Mark Karnes (BS ’80) and Catherine C. Karnes (BS ’02) live in Arkadelphia.  Catherine received her MBA from Henderson State University in December, 2008 and enjoys being at home and helping her husband with data entry work and playing tennis.

Mark Haskin and Renee Vaulner Haskin (BS ’97, BBA ’00) in Kansas City,  Missouri.  Renee is the procurement lead for the City of Kansas City Finance Department working specifically with the city ERP system.  They have four children, Lauren, a senior at the University of Kansas, Zach a sophomore at Fort Scott Community College, Will a high school sophomore and Mandy who passed away in 2008 after suffering a neck injury several years ago.

Clayton C. Moss (BS ’03) a 4 ½ year veteran with the Arkansas State Police has been promoted to the rank of Trooper First Class based out of Troop F, which primarily serves Drew County.  Trooper Moss and his wife Mandy reside in Monticello.
